Bunnings Roof Repairs
Bankstown - Bunnings Group Limited Pty Ltd
Scope:
Large-scale replacement of skylight roofing and drainage components across a Bunnings retail store while maintaining safe operations during normal trading hours.
Works were carefully staged to allow the store to remain open throughout the project, with spotters and barricades used to secure aisles when the roof void was exposed to the public. Scaffold access was installed in accordance with Airport Authority requirements, and crane lifts were scheduled outside trading hours to safely load materials onto the roof and remove waste. The project involved extensive skylight replacement, gutter reconstruction, flashing installation and sealing works to resolve ongoing leaks.
Outcome
- 3,910 lineal metres of skylight sheeting replaced with metal roof sheeting including insulated blanket.
- 148 lineal metres of box gutters replaced.
- Installation of over 7,000 new roofing screws across the roof area.
- Installation of approximately 50 lm of pan flashings and 140 lm of ridge cappings.
- Additional sealing, flashings, kink caps and sump replacements to eliminate ongoing leaks.
- Scaffold access installed to comply with Airport Authority safety requirements.
- Crane lifts coordinated outside trading hours to maintain public safety.
- All works completed over approximately 10 weeks.
Results
The project resolved persistent roof leaks and upgraded critical roof infrastructure while allowing the store to continue operating throughout construction. Careful staging, safety management and after-hours lifting ensured minimal disruption to staff and customers while delivering a durable long-term roofing solution.
